After graduating, Paik went to Munich in 1956, where he met [[wp>Karl-Heinz Stockhausen]]. From 1958 to 1963, he worked for the [[wp>WDR]] radio orchestra in Cologne. He became a member of the avant-garde [[wp>Fluxus]] movement. He lived in the USA from 1964. He married a Japanese woman and returned to Germany in 1977.
